Wildlife Spotting

Looking over a national nature reserve, this is a great location for combining walking and wildlife spotting. We are very privileged to have a direct view onto a Bearded Vulture nesting site - from the chalet itself. Unique in the Alps!

In the surrounding areas you have the chance to see:

Chamois, Ibex, Marmottes, Red & Black squirrels, Wild boar...Golden eagles, Bearded vultures (the 'Gypaetus Barbatus' or Lammergeyer), and Black Kites...

And enjoy alpine Flower species such as Gentians, Edelweiss and many varieties of Orchids.

Best time: Generally spring through to autumn (April to November). February to August for the Bearded Vultures. Late October / early November for the Chamoix / Ibex rut.
